If you are trying to configure a log file and get

}}}


you may have a permission problem.  

!!Mac

Make sure the directory {{/var/log/mysql}} and all subsequent files are owned by (and only by) {{_mysql}}.

!!Linux

Make sure the directory {{/var/log/mysql}} and all subsequent files are owned by (and only by) {{mysql}}.
